In the paper the analytical solution is obtained for the return period of a storm having at least two individual waves which are higher than a fixed threshold H, following a radically alternative approach to that the paper discussed in the Conference of Idraulica and Costruzioni Idrauliche(1998). The fact that we obtain the same final expression against different approach is an important confirmation of the result. The solution is then used to predict (in probabilistic key) higher degrees of sinking a buoy during its lifetime. Finally, it is proposed a solution for the configuration of the anchor cable drag subject to the action of the waves. It is a problem hyperstatic, because the unitary force of drag depends on the local inclination (unknown) of the cable, which depends on the force of drag.
